"Obviously, Inevidesk costs more than a traditional physical workstation"

This page compares Computle's entry dedicated-workstation plan with Inevidesk's standard 7-vdesk pod (mid-specification). This page is limited to those two configurations.^2,5

Inevidesk specifications and pricing are taken from Inevidesk's own customer quotations and published/archived pricing; Computle figures are from computle.com/pricing. The pricing, specifications and performance figures are on a November 2023 basis, reflecting the position at the time of the comparison.^1,2,3

The Inevidesk 3-year cost includes Parsec, which is an optional Inevidesk add-on; Computle includes NICE DCV as standard, so both include a remote-access protocol.^3,4

¹ Performance benchmarks based on PassMark scores (cpubenchmark.net, videocardbenchmark.net) and manufacturer specifications, as at the time of the comparison (November 2023 basis), using the standard/entry specification of each service. CPU: Computle 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 (PassMark 26,700) against an Inevidesk pod's 16-core AMD Threadripper Pro 5955WX shared across seven vdesks (≈2.28 core-equivalent per vdesk, ≈7,150). GPU: NVIDIA RTX A2000 (13,772) against NVIDIA T1000 (7,608). The "≈2.28 core-equivalent" figure is arithmetic: 16 physical cores shared across seven vdesks under full contention; a vCPU is a time-shared thread, not a dedicated physical core (see Intel, Red Hat and KVM/CFS scheduler documentation). Inevidesk's co-founder describes the vdesks as "overprovisioned" in the same DEVELOP3D article. Independent trade coverage states the position directly: "Because CPU resources are shared, its standard vdesks should not be used for CPU rendering. All other components, including the graphics card, are dedicated to each user" (DEVELOP3D ("Inevidesk: virtual desktops for CAD", Greg Corke, 28 January 2022, develop3d.com)). Actual performance will vary according to workload and configuration.

The same specification is published independently in Inevidesk's own pricing table reproduced by AEC Magazine ("Inevidesk: flexible virtual workstations", Greg Corke, 1 February 2024, aecmag.com), also published by DEVELOP3D (develop3d.com), which lists the mid-spec CAD/BIM pod as seven vdesks at 4 vCPU, 32G RAM, 500G SSD and an Nvidia T1000 (8G) each. This is the configuration compared on this page; no claim is made as to any other configuration. That capture also publishes Inevidesk's own prices at the time: Basic Pod £6,100 on a one-year term and £10,370 on a three-year term, Mid Pod £6,925 and £12,500, and High Pod £11,000 and £18,500, each pod containing seven vdesks; hardware ownership passing to the client at the end of the three-year term with an annual service fee of £1,260 per pod from year four; cloud hosting at £1,680 per pod per annum including 1TB of server storage, and £50 per additional TB per month. The CPU configuration is confirmed by Inevidesk's co-founder in DEVELOP3D ("Inevidesk: flexible virtual workstations", 12 February 2024): four vCPU allocated to each of seven vdesks on a 16-core processor, described as "overprovisioned". The Inevidesk cost build-up is corroborated independently: an independent published cost analysis by IT consultancy Ingenious (ingenious.co.uk, "A transparent look at Inevidesk for Architects and Engineers") publishes the same components and totals a three-year cost of "£21,074 for a mid-spec pod" covering seven people, before Windows or Microsoft 365 licensing and before storage at £75 per TB per month.

⁴ Parsec is an optional Inevidesk add-on, per an Inevidesk sales quotation dated October 2025: "if you do not use Parsec, then the cost for Windows RDP or similar will be very low in comparison". The same quotation notes that Windows licensing is not included. Inevidesk's own archived pricing page sets out the same position: "Microsoft require that you have virtualisation access rights to use a virtual Windows desktop ... A VDA E3 license costs around £150/ user per year" (2 August 2021 capture, web.archive.org capture, 2 August 2021). Channel-partner correspondence of October 2024 further records that Parsec licences previously bundled into the original setup are now charged separately. The same position is reported independently by AEC Magazine ("Inevidesk: flexible virtual workstations", Greg Corke, 1 February 2024, aecmag.com), also published by DEVELOP3D (develop3d.com): "the Inevidesk client application uses remote desktop software Parsec, which needs to be licensed, along with Windows".

Scan Computers, a UK channel partner, states publicly that "Scan's Virtual Desktop solution starts from as little as seven users, scaling to as many users as a business or organisation needs" (scan.co.uk press zone, 25 June 2024). Independent trade coverage of the Flexidesk launch records the position before that service existed: firms previously had "to scale in batches of seven, as Inevidesk's pod purchasing model previously dictated" (Bina Initiatives, 14 November 2023), which is the November 2023 basis used on this page. The same published table lists a CPU rendering pod of two vdesks, accordingly, the seven-vdesk unit describes the CAD/BIM pods compared here and not every Inevidesk product; other configurations may be sold on different terms. Inevidesk's Flexidesk service allows single vdesks to be added, it does not, however, provide an entry point below the pod: the same trade coverage states that "in order to use the Flexidesk service, customers must own at least one pod and it must be hosted with Inevidesk" (AEC Magazine, 1 February 2024; DEVELOP3D, 12 February 2024). This describes the manner in which the product is packaged and priced, and is not stated as a contractual minimum.

Windows and remote-access licensing for seven users takes the figure above £24,000: on Inevidesk's own published figure of "around £150/ user per year" for the VDA E3 licence required to run a virtual Windows desktop (reference 4), seven users over three years adds £3,150, giving £24,224 before any remote-access licence. It is corroborated by an Inevidesk quotation held by Computle. Customers who keep pods on their own premises, or who use the Flexidesk rental service, will incur different costs.

¹² The hardware is identified from photographs published by Inevidesk's co-founder on LinkedIn, including posts of 16 January 2024 (activity 7152929437162881024) and 24 February 2026 (activity 7432169460754640897). The chassis is a commercially available Gooxi rack chassis, sold through general distributors and retailers, carrying an Inevidesk-branded front badge; the identification is consistent across the pods shown in those posts and matches Gooxi's own published chassis pages and distributor listings. The interior photograph shows the motherboard silkscreen reading WRX90 WS EVO, a retail ASRock product sold through general distributors and retailers, and a Gooxi-branded power supply. Gooxi does not manufacture the motherboard, and ASRock does not manufacture the chassis; the two principal components accordingly originate from different third-party manufacturers. Inevidesk's co-founder has separately described the company as building bespoke hardware rather than buying from Dell or HP. For the avoidance of doubt, the statement made here concerns the origin of the components from which the pod is built, and not the identity of the party building it. Computle designs and manufactures its own equipment: rack enclosures and rack-mounted workstation chassis, their internal layout and cooling design, its own metered power-distribution units, and its own PCBs. It uses OEM motherboards, buys components direct from the manufacturers, writes its own platform software, and sells direct. Inevitech Ltd is listed on the Vectorworks Partner Network as a Technology partner, described there as "the developers and suppliers of the innovative virtual desktop platform Inevidesk" (vectorworks.net partner listing), and independent trade coverage (DEVELOP3D, May 2022) identifies its differentiator as its video-streaming software rather than its hardware.^8,12,13

¹⁷ Where the chassis, motherboard and remote-access software are third-party products, as in the configuration described at reference 12, changes to those elements follow the respective vendors' own product cycles. Computle designs the equivalent elements itself and operates its own remote-access protocol alongside NICE DCV, so specification changes are within its own control.
