I'm on a mission to change the future of computing.
At thirteen, I earned thirty pounds fixing a computer, sparking my passion for entrepreneurship. While pursuing my law degree, I founded a property technology business. Transitioning into contracting, I spent five years implementing computing solutions for renowned organizations like Aviva, the NHS, and Legal & General. My expertise led me to Microsoft, where I served as a Senior Consultant, and later, as a Solutions Architect. During those roles, I saw three common issues: 1. Hardware upgrade took ages; 2. Pricing was inflexible; and 3. users were frustrated. So in 2020, I decided to address this by forming Computle; a workstation subscription service built to directly address these issues.
Founding tenets
1. Simplify and demystify computing.
Throughout my experiences, complexity emerged as the prevailing theme, often frustrating me as technicians would needlessly overcomplicate subjects, leaving end users feeling alienated. However, from the outset, Computle distinguished itself by offering a streamlined approach. Unlike traditional service providers inundating clients with myriad options, Computle opted for a maximum of four tailored offerings, prioritizing understanding end users' needs and delivering refined services, eschewing the temptation to provide endless variations for every conceivable scenario. This commitment to simplicity not only enhanced user experience but also yielded cost savings for those no requiring bespoke solutions.
2. Be genuine and transparent.
My greatest frustration stemmed from witnessing a service provider impose a fixed fee for every support ticket raised by clients, including my employer. This emphasis on ticket volume over service delivery led to a severe disconnect from the clients' needs, resulting in subpar service. Even a simple task like a password reset would generate multiple tickets, inflating fees and breeding resentment towards IT services. Upon founding Computle, I set out to revolutionise the approach to technology provision. We said no to hidden fees and opaque pricing tactics, opting instead for transparency in our offerings and dealings. Every customer would receive the utmost respect and gratitude they deserve, as we prioritised their satisfaction above all else.
3. Innovate, not just replicate.
For nearly three decades, the methods for procuring workstations remained stagnant: leasing, buying, or assembling one's own solution. Even the introduction of pay-in-three failed to address the fundamental shortcomings of existing options. Leasing only entailed monthly payments without tangible benefits, cloud solutions were costly and seldom pre-configured, and upgrades or replacements were painstakingly slow. Recognising these flaws, Computle embarked on a mission to revolutionize workstation delivery, revisiting the fundamentals of virtualized computing while tackling the longstanding issue of graphics acceleration. Rather than merely reselling existing rack workstations or servers, I personally j
ourneyed to China and dedicated three years to innovating Computle's end-to-end supply chain, fundamentally reshaping how workstations are procured and delivered.
4. Make this work for SMEs.
Traditional cloud platforms, designed primarily for enterprise use, typically demand substantial investments of both time and money before yielding tangible benefits. This poses a significant barrier for SMEs, particularly those requiring graphics-accelerated machines, who may find themselves needing to invest hundreds of thousands of pounds to implement such solutions. Consequently, they often resort to legacy approaches like purchasing workstations outright and managing them internally. By scaling Computle's infrastructure delivery with a standardised approach, we proudly provide a workstation subscription service that is up to
56% more cost-effective than Dell and up to 80% cheaper than public cloud alternatives.
5. Deliver an incredible user experience.
At Computle, we understand the importance of providing not just the hardware, but a comprehensive service package tailored to our clients' needs. That's why our offering includes a dedicated point of contact, ensuring that clients have direct access to personalised support whenever they need it. Moreover, our seamless maintenance and upgrade service is handled entirely in-house by Computle, guaranteeing a hassle-free experience for our clients from start to finish. This holistic approach contrasts sharply with traditional methods, where these crucial aspects of service management would typically be divided among multiple companies, resulting in unnecessary complexity and inflated costs due to the associated overhead. By consolidating these services under one roof, we streamline the process and deliver unparalleled value to our clients.
